About Your Teacher

Hello students! Let me introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me. I started teaching in 1998 at Le Petit Séminaire de Québec. I decided to come and work at Le Séminaire Saint-François in 2001. I have been here since then. I love languages; English in particular! French, English and Spanish were my favourite subjects in school.

I was a student at Le Collège Jésus-Marie de Sillery and then at Champlain Regional College (St-Lawrence Campus). I went to Université Laval to complete a baccalaureate degree to become an English teacher at the elementary and secondary levels. I also started a master’s degree in educational technologies but I stopped because I had a baby. I have taught ESL (English as a second language), EESL (enriched English as a second language) and ELA (English Language Arts) since the beginning of my career. I have taught from secondary 1 to 5.

Since I am interested in integrating technologies in the classroom, I also made a suggestion to start a new option at our school. After attending a conference about expert students in ICT (information and communication technologies), I asked the director of pedagogical services, Mr. Lessard, to offer an option at our school for a small group of students who have an interest in sharing their expertise with teachers and other members of the staff in order to help them learn more about ICTs or to create websites, slide shows, videos, etc. After one year working with the selected students, Mr. Robitaille took on that responsibility, now assumed by Mr. Gagnon.  He supervises students in secondary 3, 4 and 5 who are part of a team called SS-F TIC.

I love teaching! It is a job that allows me to be creative and spontaneous. Through my classes, I hope I can encourage some students to work hard to improve their English competencies. Being bilingual is an essential skill for many careers, for travelling, and for entertainment. I friend once offered me a sign that is on a wall in my office. I read it everyday. Here is what it says: “To teach is to touch the future.” What a motivation!
